Laurea University of Applied Sciences and the Training Institute for Prison and Probation Services run a Bachelor of Social Services programme in prison and probation services. The programme consists of 210 credits and takes approximately three and a half years to complete. Admissions are through the national application system every spring. Graduates typically work in managerial positions in prison and probation services. The qualification also opens doors to various positions in related fields and in different kinds of organisations. Applicants can be given credit for their previous studies in prison and probation services.
In the future, prison and probation services will also employ individuals with other university-level degrees, such as Bachelors of Business Administration, Bachelors of Social Services and nurses. Completing the Bachelor of Social Services degree in prison and probation services is therefore not the only way to get into the prison and probation services industry. One option is to complete one of the aforementioned university degrees and then a degree in prison and probation services at the Training Institute for Prison and Probation Services to increase the chances of finding employment.
