Further training

After completing a prison and probation service degree, students can apply for further studies at universities and universities of applied sciences.

Bachelor of Social Services, Correctional Service

The aim of the Bachelor of Social Service degree is to educate qualified professionals for managerial and specialist tasks in correctional services.

People who have completed a prison and probation service degree can apply for further studies in the Bachelor of Social Services, Correctional Services degree programme (Laurea.fi) at Laurea University of Applied Sciences in a special application round. The training is provided in cooperation with RSKK.

After completing the Bachelor of Social Services degree and obtaining two years of work experience, you can apply for Laurea's Master's degree programme: Management and Development of Social and Correctional Services.

Students of the Savonia University of Applied Sciences' Bachelor of Social Services degree programme (Savonia.fi) can also specialise in correctional services. There is no separate application round for Savonia for prison and probation services students; you must apply through the joint application system for higher education institutions in the autumn. On-the-job training is available in prisons and Community Sanctions Offices.

Master of Administrative Sciences degree

After obtaining a Bachelor of Social Services degree, the academic alternative is to continue your studies in the University of Eastern Finland's (Uef.fi) Master of Administrative Sciences degree programme (hallintotieteiden maisteri, HTM). There is a separate quota for the degree programme for people with a Bachelor of Social Services degree in Correctional Services.
